Country Season Launch 2026/27
Please find the following registration link to our Country Season Launch happening at 7:00pm, September 21st - WA Cricket | Country Cricket Season Launch 2026-27
We’re looking forward to sharing key updates and information to help kick-start the 2026/27 season. Including a feature showcasing one of our clubs here in the Wheatbelt!
This event requires a mandatory attendance by all Wheatbelt clubs.
Registration Updates
Registrations are behind the most of the other country regions:
Cricket Blast – 9 – Ahead YTD (5th Overall Country Region)
Junior Cricket – 0 - same YTD (1st Overall Country Region)
Senior Cricket – 3 – Ahead YTD (2nd Overall Country Region)
I urge you to get rego’s open now. Don’t wait for agm’s! Have the discussion now and get them open. We have a national campaign recruiting players of all ages to join your clubs ongoing throughout August. If you aren’t open yet, you’re already missing out on new recruits.
If all clubs can ensure that rego’s are open for all forms of cricket and continue with promotion and encouraging registrations that would be greatly appreciated

Make sure your club is visible on PlayHQ so families can easily find and register (I have altered all clubs playHQ profiles to ensure people can now find you on the playcricket program finder). But please go on and make sure your details, particularly key contacts, are up to date on the system.

Child Safety
Adopting the safeguarding framework is now mandatory. Before the season starts, all clubs need to provide to me:
The name, email address, and phone number of the club's Child Safety Officer.
A copy or photo of meeting minutes confirming the club’s endorsement of the Safeguarding Children and Young People Framework for the 2026/27 season.
Evidence that the framework has been promoted to members, such as a website link, social media post, or a screenshot.

Need More Players?
How easy is it to find your club online?
Are you a location on google maps?
Have you got a website?
Do you have a social media (Facebook at least)?
If you’re not easy to find online, you’re reducing the chances of people joining you. I appreciate that in some smaller towns, it may feel less important, but it can still help. Checking for a cricket club online was the first thing I did when we were considering a regional post as a family. If I didn’t find anything online, the location was ditched.
Regional Academy Program
Following the appointment of Jarrod Hansen as the new Country Cricket Pathway Specialist, the 2026/27 Regional Academy Program is due to get underway at the end of August.
A very small group of promising players in the under 14 age range have been selected to attend 8 training sessions prior to the season starting. We currently run this program in Northam but are looking to expand into other areas in the region for next season to include more promising Wheatbelt talent.
Club Events
Toodyay Cricket Club have been proactive and have booked a trip to the WACA Indoor Centre for their juniors during the October School Holidays. We look forward to hosting them and providing memorable day at the WACA.
If your club is planning any cricket events, whether its social or competitive, whether its adults or children, girls or boys, I’d love to hear about it. If you need help with anything, give me a shout.
Volunteer of the Month will be a feature again this season, so start thinking of important people in your community that make a real impact to your members.
Community Cricket Officers
I was very fortunate to have several good applicants for casual CCO’s across the Wheatbelt. We have managed to appoint 4, who will service the region with a focus on delivering promotional cricket clinic’s and assembly’s at your local schools. We have 1 based in Narrogin, 1 in Northam, 1 in Goomalling and 1 in Perth (who has a base in Narrogin).
We have a limited budget but we will get the opportunity to come and support more of your club programs with this additional support, so if you would like us to try and arrange a visit, please shout.
